Anthems: Exploration

The genre of song stated in the brief for the music video is 'anthem': a genre proving more difficult to research than I had originally anticipated. Despite obvious national or religious connotations, an 'anthem', in reference to general popular music, is a song which elicits inspiration; typically empowering voices within society that are often ignored or side-lined. Out of the artists as provided under the Sony record label, I have started to consider Britney Spears; Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston as potential artists to explore. While evident and clear anthems come to mind for other artists, neither the songs nor the artists are compelling enough for me to begin drawing concepts for a music video using those songs. Going forward, I intend to research specific empowering anthems by these artists, as a simple search initially provides ambiguous record lists such as "100 90's Anthems" which are more akin to general popular music than the brief specifies.
