Testing Lip-sync in this practical project was very insightful. While the majority of it came to fruition in the editing system, the most important thing to learn was that, if the original video isn't produced to a high standard, it will make the editing much more difficult. For example, we made the decision to use an earphone in order to maintain synchronisation to the music. Evidently, I will not be able to do this while producing the marked piece, however it was beneficial to experiment with it. Additionally, we ensured that the lyrics were physically sung during recording as merely moving your lips without making any sound proved to look unprofessional.
If I were to reshoot this, the primary sequence I would change is the beginning in which I have to track with the phone camera whilst walking backwards. In this practical task, I wasn't able to step back quickly enough while holding the camera still, therefore I would use a tripod and carefully manage my steps in order to provide stability to the camera and maintain good composition of the focal point.
Despite direct address being an important factor of selling the artist, I wanted to play with different shots, such as side angles and low angles, both of which I think were successful in broadening the heavy 'performance' structure of this video. In having multiple shots, particularly of the same sequence, it provided much more practice in the editing software, specifically with cutting at the right precise moment and recycling footage for extended sequences.
